Hello and welcome to Women in the Coaching Arena podcast. I'm so glad you are here. I'm Jo Lott, a business mentor and ICF accredited coach

Microphone (Samson Q2U Microphone):

and I help coaches to build brilliant businesses. I know that when you prepare to enter the arena, there is fear, self doubt, comparison, anxiety, uncertainty, shame. You can tend to armor up and protect yourself from vulnerability. In this podcast, I'll be sharing honest, not hype, practical and emotional tools to support you to make the difference that you are here for. Dare greatly. You belong in this arena. Welcome to the 43rd episode of women in the coaching arena, I am so glad you are here. Today, I'm excited to share a personal reflection of an evening out I had last night at Wimbledon center court, which was wonderful to be there in the kind of fancy debentures area. It was a really inspiring evening with lots of young Wimbledon players their sharing their insights. I was seated next to a multi-millionaire business owner. And through our conversation over the two or three hours of the dinner. I learned loads of valuable lessons that I can't wait to share with you today. That you can take forward into your business that I am definitely taken forward into mine. So here are my lessons from a multimillionaire. So first thing I noticed is surrounding himself with excellence. So this person, despite his immense wealth and business responsibilities plays tennis, not just occasionally, but five times a week, several times a day. And, so I have never really heard of someone playing that often, who isn't a professional tennis player, like several times a day when he has a very extensive business to run. So I quizzed him on this and he believes in being completely committed to what he wants to do. And also surrounding himself by the best. So he had paid lots of the best tennis players in the world to play tennis with him. Because he wants to compete against the best. So it was a really specific mindset that I witnessed and surrounding himself with people who are better than him. So we can take that into your business. Being in a room with people doing amazing things will change your perspective on money and success. Rather than focusing on small gains, like for example, selling a coaching session for 50 pounds. He would be focusing on huge gains, like securing a really big contract in your business. And when you are part of something where you hear what's possible, Like I'm fortunate enough to hear this from my clients all the time, who are going for those big corporate contracts now. And it's really inspiring what can happen if you make that decision and really, really go for it. So the second lesson that I learned was speedy decision-making. As coaches, we often see our clients and ourselves dithering over decisions. Whether that is choosing a niche, crafting a social media post. This guys approach was very different. He doesn't have time to ponder over that same small decision repeatedly. It was really apparent that he makes quick firm decisions, allowing him to manage his multimillion pound company whilst still playing tennis five times a week, several times a day. And so that decisiveness really does save time. And makes him more successful than the next person who is procrastinating and spending a lot of time considering what their next move should be. My third lesson was pursuing goals with urgency. So this third lesson I learned was about going after those goals in the fastest way possible. So he was talking about the fact he doesn't wait around for email responses which will delay the action. So, for example, you might send an email for someone, they spend five days thinking about it and then find an email back you email back. Before, you know, it you've wasted like three weeks or a month. Whereas that person who has got that answer immediately is then three weeks to a month ahead of you. So he would just call someone, say he wants this now and often gets it. So it was a real wake up call of this kind of polite way that we can often have. Of sending one email thinking. That friend might get me into their organization. Let's send this one email and then we'll just sit and wait for a month in the hope that they'll come back to us. How about sending 50 emails to 50 friends that we have, and then you're not waiting and spending a lot of time waiting on one response. So this approach ensures that your goals are reached so much quicker and reduces time, wastage exponentially. So let's dive into further applying these lessons to your coaching business. It's safe to say that many of us waste precious time, overthinking minor details, or hesitating to invest money in our growth. But we can see time as a more valuable resource than money. So imagine investing and I'm very fortunate, that I have invested a lot in my business to fast track my own progress. If someone who's done this before, Can tell me exactly how to do something that will genuinely save me a year or two of trying to figure it out myself. Therefore make me so much more money because what could I earn in a year or two of not going round in circles. Just like the millionaire invests in the top tennis players to improve his tennis skills. We can do the same and ask people further ahead for their help in making your journey quicker. Whether that's through hiring experts, getting better tools, spending money on marketing or mentoring. It's not an expense, but an investment in your success. Moving on to decision-making. So that speed again is crucial. Make decisions quickly and confidently. If you are going into business. Trying to avoid any failure. Sadly, you are probably going to fail because that is the greatest risk in life is not taking any risks, not making any decisions. Therefore just wasting all of your time. And it's not just standing still is actually going backwards. Because what I see is it then people's confidence will erode from them not making a decision. And you could just make that decision fall fast, fall hard. And in a months time you'll know what works and what doesn't work. Yes, it sounds hard. But if entrepreneurship was easy, everyone would be doing it. So the quicker you move the faster you will see results. And lastly, direct action. So follow that approach of direct communication. If you want to partner with someone, contact them directly as quickly as possible. Follow up with them. If you need a client decision, call them. Cut down that waiting time and you will see how efficiently your business operates. So in conclusion lessons from last night are clear. Surround yourself with people farther along than you. Make decisions swiftly and pursue your goals with urgency. It's about investing, not just the money, but also your time and energy wisely. Time spent pondering over small decisions is time lost in achieving your great success. Time is the only thing that we can never get back. And like I said, I really believe that we very rarely stand still. We either go backwards or we go forwards. So thank you for tuning into this short episode of women in the coaching arena. I hope this helps you have an amazing 2024. Happy new year. I hope it will be one full of quick decisions and I cannot wait to see your business grow and prosper.
